A group of women MPs – Claire CurtisThomas, Kali Mountford, Jacqui Lait and Phyllis Starkey – have complained in a letter to The Times that the proposals by Sir Christopher Kelly to remove the second home allowance from MPs whose constituencies are within an hour’s train journey of London “will discourage women who might otherwise seek their party’s nomination”.
